Our Physical Therapists focus on identifying and maximizing quality of life and movement potential within the spheres of:

  • Promotion

They focus on the physical, psychological, emotional, and social well-being of their Clearfield, Layton, and Ogden Patients.

Occupational Therapy

Thatcher Brook Rehabilitation’s Licensed Occupational Therapists specialize in giving help to patients to return to their usual activities (such as bathing, preparing meals, and housekeeping) after illness either on an inpatient or outpatient basis.

Speech Therapy

Thatcher Brook Rehab’s Licensed Speech Therapist specializes in communication problems. They assist with problems involving speech, language, and swallowing. Communication problems can be present at birth or develop after an injury or illness, such as a stroke.

Aquatic Rehabilitation

Aquatic therapy is a quantum leap forward in rehabilitation. It compliments traditional land based therapy programs by providing a unique environment and setting to enhance patient outcomes.
Often after surgery, injury, illness or even as part of the normal aging process, a patient’s sensitivity to pain is increased and weight bearing is limited. This restricts his/her activities of daily living and ability to live at home. Our Clearfield Rehab center features top of the line aquatic facilities.

In water, the effects of gravity are reduced and greater functional activity and motion can occur. Water supports the body, reduces joint stress, and provides resistance and assistance to movement in a truly unique manner. This allows patients to improve their mobility, strength and functionality more rapidly during the healing process.

The following conditions are ideal for treatment in the aquatic environment:

  • Rehab following surgery or illness
  • Hip, knee and ankle pain
  • Chronic pain
  • Decreased ability to ambulate
  • Back and neck pain
  • Arthritis

Some benefits to aquatic therapy include:

  • Accelerates Rehabilitation
  • Decreases pain and discomfort
  • Protects joints during exercise
  • Increases strength and endurance
  • Increases balance and coordination
  • Increases muscle tone

This state of the art pool features:

Zero Depth Access – The entire pool floor is fully adjustable in height, allowing patients to simply stand or sit on the treadmill while it is flush with the surrounding floor and be lowered into the water. A healthcare professional can strategically unload 20% to 90% of their subject’s weight by raising or lowering the treadmill to adjust water depth . The pool can submerge to 6′ within 30 seconds

Variable Speed Treadmill – 6′ x 9′, the treadmill floor smoothly accelerates from .1 to 8 .5 miles per hour in safe .2 mph increments. The HydroWorx treadmill surface has a cushioned, low-impact design, with excellent traction

Computer Documentation and Software – All functions of the HydroWorx 1200 are computer monitored and can be recorded to validate and track patient recovery and progress .

Remote Control – The pool’s features are accessible by a water-resistant remote control unit. The remote grants the healthcare professional complete freedom of movement during patients’ rehabilitation and exercise

Underwater Cameras and Viewing Monitors – The 1200 Series includes underwater cameras and a flat screen viewing monitor to greatly enhance a therapist’s diagnostic capabilities when evaluating a patient’s underwater gait pattern
